Clint LaFont currently works for the Texas Department of Transportation as an Engineering Specialist/Design Coordinator for their General Services Fabrication Shop.  He oversees the one and only TxDOT CNC shop, which consists of a program that uses 4 state of the art HAAS CNC machines.  The shop builds everything from Herbicide spray equipment to precise bridge beam deformation fixtures.  Many of the CNC produced parts are used in the structural testing of roadway and bridge materials that make up the highways across Texas.

Clint is a previous graduate of Austin Community College’s Architectural and Engineering Graphics program.  Clint graduated from ACC with an Architectural and Engineering Design Graphics degree with mechanical specialty.

When he’s not working with CNC machines, you will find him on the racetrack, racing a stockcar he built in 2005.  Clint races a 1979 Camaro at Thunder Hill Racway in Kyle, TX (www.thunderhillraceway.com).  His current racecar features engineered parts and components that are easily manufactured on CNC machines through the use of CADCAM software such as MasterCAM.  To add to the racing resume, Clint won the 2009 ASA (American Speed Association) West Regional National Championship as well as the 2009 Thunder Hill Raceway Track Championship where he competed against thousands of the best racecar drivers in the country.

In his class, Clint teaches the MasterCAM software by using “real world” manufacturing examples as well as lessons to enhance the learning experience.  He brings his knowledge of mechanical operations and prototyping processes to the classroom so students leave with enough knowledge and confidence to make a positive stand in today’s challenging workforce.
