Riley Triggs earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Architecture from Rice University where he studied how to smooth the interstitial space between humans and architecture. He began using CAD software on an Apple IIc in the 1980s when he installed the first CAD station for his high school drafting class.
He also occasionally teaches in the School of Architecture at UT, and he currently is teaching in the Design Division of the Department of Art and Art History at the UT where he is working to smooth the space between real and virtual environments using information as a medium in the persistent online environment of Second Life as well as in dedicated iPhone applications. He is involved in a special project at UT on sustainability practices, campus awareness and data stream generation and manipulation of utility usage patterns. These investigations include augmented reality environments for information on the iPhone, social networking components and environmental sensor hardware installations.
Riley has played baseball since he could stand in a batter's box, and he continues to play on a sandlot baseball team made up of artists, architects, playwrights, musicians, filmmakers and other cool people. The team annually travels to Newbern, Alabama and Marfa, Texas to play other sandlot teams, and teams from as far away as Philadelphia have visited Austin for games. Other hobbies include model railroading, gardening and gaming. He was born and raised in South Austin and continues to live there with his wonderful wife and unflappable Maine Coon cat, Arresto
