Mark holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from SMU, and has additional education in Math/Statistics and Mechanical Engineering from UT Arlington and UT Austin. Since his graduation from SMU (magna cum laude), he has worked in the Aerospace and Defense (General Dynamics and Lockheed), semiconductor equipment (Eaton), and electronic test equipment (Symtx) industries, all within the confines of the great state of Texas. He is a native of Fort Worth, and has a family history of engineering endeavors in various disciplines.
Mark began drafting in High School, and has forged much of his advanced drafting knowledge by leveraging his desire to learn. He has used several CAD programs, which include: FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), CADAM, CadKey, AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, IDEAS, FEMAP, CATIA, Inventor, Pro/Engineer, and Solidworks. He is currently working to incorporate the Advanced Mechanica module of Pro/Engineer and the CFDesign CFD software programs into his growing list of engineering analysis tools used in his daily work at Symtx. As the curriculum permits, he plans to bring this FEA/CFD expertise into his DFTG 2402 Machine Drafting classroom.
In his earlier days, Mark was an accomplished BMX (bicycle motocross) racer, having started in back in 1974 when the sport was born. He eventually progressed to the professional level, obtaining the ABA (American Bicycle Association) #31 National Pro ranking in 1980. During this time, while attending classes at SMU (Southern Methodist University) in Dallas, he traveled to several states across the county to compete at many ABA and NBL (National Bicycle League) nationally sanctioned events.
Mark is happily married with two college-age children.
