The Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Design (A&E CAD) department at Austin Community College offers a two-year program leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree and a one-year program leading to a Certificate. Students in this program take a series of courses covering drafting and CAD principles and gain extensive hands-on experience with current CAD industry software.
A&E CAD students

Many A&E CAD courses transfer to university programs.
A&E CAD students develop proficiency in specialized areas:
• Mechanical CAD
• Civil and Architectural CAD
• IC layout and design graphics
• Electronic design graphics
Every A&E CAD lab is outfitted with up-to-date CAD workstations running the latest CAD software.
A&E CAD students pursue individual educational objectives:

In-district tuition for a 66 credit hour A&E CAD degree is about $4500 (Spring 2008).
A&E CAD students are provided free individual tutoring in an open computer lab.
The A&E CAD department offers both semester-long classes for college credit and continuing education classes and workshops in Austin's CAD Learning Center.
