This program is intended for students pursing careers in the field of Architectural CAD. Architectural drafters create construction documents for residential and commercial buildings. Students may also use the training offered in the architectural specialization to prepare for transfer to a university architectural program.
Students who choose the Architectural Specialization career track are often employed by those who offer services to the Architectural, Engineering, Construction, and/or Building industries. These may include Architects, Professional Engineers, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) firms.
The A&E CAD curriculum stresses knowledge of AutoCAD as the base software. Other CAD software used in this program includes Architectural Desktop and Revit.
Students are strongly encouraged to meet with the A&E CAD department's Architectural coordinator, Erlene Clark, before pursuing this program.
