DFTG 1492 Advanced Architectural Residential Course Syllabus

Course Description This course focuses on the creation and assembly of construction drawings for a custom residence including interpreting building regulations, building codes and creating specifications to support the construction document.
Rationale This course is intended to give students workforce skills in the CAD field.
Instructional Methodology
  • Lectures introduce new material.
  • Exercises allow the instructor to lead students through the material the first time.
  • Projects provide opportunities for students to practice with the new tools on their own.
Prerequisites DFTG 1417 strongly recommended
Objectives/Outcomes The main objectives of this course are to introduce the student to disciplines and practices used in Architectural Drafting, strengthen the skill set and concepts necessary to engage in and execute Architectural Drafting practices and to prepare the student for the application of this skill set in the workforce. Upon completion of this course, the student will have a set of portfolio-ready drawings that can be shown to prospective employers.
Grade Determination Grading policies are determined by individual instructors or course coordinators.
