DFTG 1493 Advanced Civil Drafting Course Syllabus

Course Description This course covers civil engineering drafting principles and applications using a dynamic model based approach. Topics include: exchanging civil design data, surface modeling and analysis, site development, grading, road design, subdivision land planning, utility design and production drafting.
Rationale This course is intended to give students workforce skills in the CAD field.
Instructional Methodology
  • Lectures introduce new material.
  • Exercises allow the instructor to lead students through the material the first time.
  • Projects provide opportunities for students to practice with the new tools on their own.
Prerequisites DFTG 2430
Objectives/Outcomes At the completion of this course, the student will have demonstrated the ability to:
 Apply knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software functionality.
 Distinguish basic principles of Surveying and Engineering Design.
Grade Determination Grading policies are determined by individual instructors or course coordinators.
