DFTG 2412 Technical Illustration Course Syllabus

Course Description Pictorial drawing including isometrics, obliques, perspectives, charts, and graphs. Emphasis on rendering and using different media. Introduction to design, problem solving and team building. Students will learn basic sketching and techniques, the creation of solid models and rendering. The students will design and create 3D animations and design a cover for a conference program.
Rationale This course is intended to give students workforce skills in the CAD field.
Instructional Methodology
  • Lectures introduce new material.
  • Exercises allow the instructor to lead students through the material the first time.
  • Projects provide opportunities for students to practice with the new tools on their own.
Prerequisites DFTG 1405 and DFTG 2419
Objectives/Outcomes This course is taught in a lecture/demonstration format.
Exercises will prepare the student for several two and three-dimensional projects which are submitted to the instructor for critique and grading. An introduction of CorelDRAW will allow the student to prepare drawings for publication. An introduction to 3D Studio Viz will allow students to create and animate simple three-dimensional objects.
Grade Determination Grading policies are determined by individual instructors or course coordinators.
