| My parents, Georgie (Johansen) and Winston Addis, met at the Roger Williams Youth Fellowship Center in Iowa City and went on their first date at Clifton's Cafeteria in Los Angeles, December 29th, 1958. They were both drummers in town for the 1959 Rose Bowl. Dad marched through Pasadena and into the stadium for the Hawkeye Marching Band, while mom laid down rhythm for the bagpipes of the Scottish Highlanders. Iowa rolled over Cal 38-12. |
