choice is a developmental process rather than a single decision.
Career counseling may assist you in deciding whether to pursue, develop, explore, or avoid a
particular career path. For example, careers that are congruent with your skills and interests are
worth pursuing. If your interests are highly similar to individuals in a particular vocation but your
skills are incongruent, college coursework can help you develop your skills. There may be some
areas where you have excellent skills but little interest in the area. Counseling can help you to
explore why your interest is low, and how to transfer your skills to another area.
