Welcome.
The Austin Community College District offers more than 235 associate degrees and certificates along with other educational options. With that many choices, you’ll need a guide—and this course catalog helps serve that purpose.
The catalog provides students a wealth of information about ACC, our programs, academic policies, and support services. As you become more familiar with the college, you’ll see ACC is a smart choice. Here are just a few reasons:
- Associate degrees are the fastest-growing workplace credential, according to the U.S. Department
of Labor. They also provide the foundation for transfer to universities. ACC transfer students perform as well as or better than their peers at area universities. - Our workforce students are highly valued by business and industry throughout Central Texas. We are the primary trainer of the local workforce and a key component of regional economic development.
- ACC provides foundation skills programs that get students college-ready.
- Flexible course formats and schedules meet a variety of needs. We offer full-length and short semesters, hybrid and distance learning opportunities, and instruction during the day, evening, and weekends.
- Students have access to an array of support services that help you get in college, stay in college,
and succeed.
This college isn’t a job to me—it’s my passion. I will retire in 2011, after 34 years of service, including six years as president. I am more convinced than ever about the power of ACC to change lives and communities for the better. I know the college will continue to thrive under the leadership of Dr. Richard Rhodes, who will take over as president this year.
ACC owes its success to talented faculty and staff who are dedicated to helping students. Talk to your professors, visit an advisor or counselor, and take advantage of the student support staff. Like this catalog, the ACC team will be a valuable resource as you work to achieve your goals.
