BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

As I was growing up, my interest in science was intensified by the excitement of the space race. Science and math were my favorite subjects all through school, and when I went to college I found that physics and astronomy were my best choices as science courses. After college, I continued with these interests, getting a PhD in Physics and then doing post-doctoral work in Astronomy.

I started teaching at Austin Community College (ACC) in 1996 and over the years have taught courses in physics, astronomy, math, and environmental science. Currently I teach physics and astronomy, primarily at the Cypress Creek campus of ACC.

PH.D. IN PHYSICS, Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., 1978
Thesis: “Low Temperature Properties of Germanium, Silicon and Carbon with Application to Bolometry.”

Guided and managed research project teams. Re-engineered and implemented new processes in manufacturing. Supervised and assisted engineers and technicians in activities related to lab procedures for hybrid thin-film photolithography.
