Welcome to Austin Community College
Continuing Education
Health Professions Institute

The Health Professions Institute (HPI) was launched in April of 2000, and is a part of the Workforce Development Center in the Continuing Education Department at Austin Community College. The Institute is comprised of an Executive Director, four Program Coordinators, a Clinical Placement Coordinator, and two Administrative Support Staff. The Executive Director and Coordinators are all experienced licensed healthcare professionals who understand the workforce training and education needs of the healthcare industry. Each of the Coordinators is available to assist in the development of new programs (entry-level training and professional continuing education) and the planning of special healthcare education events.

HPI is also available for co-sponsoring professional continuing education events with other organizations. We can take the hassles out of applying for professional continuing education credit for nurses, emergency medical personnel, long term care administrators, dental professionals, licensed chemical dependency counselors and other healthcare disciplines.

Please be aware that all Criminal Background Check requirements have been updated and are in effect as of 5/28/09. Review the changes here.
All healthcare students entering any type of clinical setting (hospitals, clinics, doctors offices, etc...) as part of their continuing education course/program in Fall 2009 or Spring 2010 should review the following information. Specific requirements/deadlines for flu vaccinations are available from your course Instructor or Coordinator.
