Continuing Education Courses:

 

RNSG 1006 Re-Entry Nursing Update: This 16-week on-line course is designed to meet the educational needs of RNs who have been out of the clinical setting for a period of time, the RN that is applying for reinstatement of their license, or the RN applying for Texas licensure coming from another state.  Content is based on the BNE recommendations for “nursing refresher” courses and includes a review of the current role of the nurse, the nursing process, review of basic pharmacology and medication administration, documentation, legal issues, and a supervised clinical experience (concurrent enrollment in RNSG 1060 Clinical-Nursing-Registered Nurse Training).

 

RNSG 1060 Clinical-Nursing-Registered Nurse Training:  The complimentary clinical component to RNSG 1006 Re-Entry Nursing Update.  A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts.  Students are assigned to a trained preceptor in a local healthcare facility (at the preceptor’s schedule) which meets the student’s learning objectives for the re-entry nurse. Prerequisites: concurrent enrollment in RNSG 1006 and must hold a current or pending renewal nursing license.

 

VNSG 2033 LVN Refresher Theory:  This 16-week on-line course is designed to meet the educational needs of LVNs who have been out of the clinical setting for a period of time, the LVN that is applying for reinstatement of their license, or the LVN applying for Texas licensure coming from another state.  Content is based on the BNE recommendations for “nursing refresher” courses and includes a review of the current role of the nurse, the nursing process, review of basic pharmacology and medication administration, documentation, legal issues, and a supervised clinical experience (concurrent enrollment in VNSG 1060 Clinical-Licensed/Vocational Nurse Training).

 

VNSG 1060 Clinical-Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training: The complimentary clinical component to VNSG 2033 LVN Refresher Theory. A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts.  Students are assigned to a trained preceptor in a local healthcare facility (at the preceptor’s schedule) which meets the student’s learning objectives for the re-entry nurse.  Prerequisites: concurrent enrollment in VNSG 2033 and must hold a current or pending renewal nursing license.
