Seventh Annual Study Abroad Program in Lima, Peru

Summer Session 2010

Austin Community College

University of San Martin de Porres in Lima

 

Students will travel to Lima, Peru to participate in an Archeology class, taught by an ACC instructor, and a Peruvian Culture class taught at the USMP in Lima.  Earn 6 hours of ACC Anthropology credit.  The classes will meet every weekday morning and the afternoons will be reserved for field trips.  The program will include visits to museums, archaeological sites and weekend field trips.  The cultural immersion will make the classroom seminars more vivid and relevant.

 

Dates:  during first summer session-- pre-departure orientation on May 12th from 5-7pm, pre--departure classes May 24th 5-7pm, May 25th-27th  5-7pm, leave Austin May 27th, program ends June 25th, (some students may want to stay longer)

Cost:  $1700, includes airfare from Austin, TX to Lima, Peru, tuition to the University of San Martin, field trips to sites in Lima.

Austin Community College tuition:  approximately $324 for In-District Residents. 

Courses for 6 hours credit:  ANTH 2302 and ANTH 2389

Total:  $2024

Not included in cost:  books (to be purchased before leaving), insurance, housing, meals, local transportation, phone calls, required cell phone, laundry, souvenirs, personal items, or field trips outside Lima.  It is recommended that you have at least $1145 to cover these costs.

Requirements:  Student must enroll in Austin Community College and must attend pre-departure classes.  Students will need a current passport.  No visa is needed to enter Peru for US citizens.
