Installing only the client tools on SQL server 2000 at pinnacle

    

      A There two ways to install the client tools:

B Use the installation definition screen to select the components

     to include in this installation of SQL server 2000. If you select client tools only

Or connectivity only, Setup proceeds and no additional choice are required, unless you select component when installing client tools.

      C  Use the custom setup option, and in the select components screen, you can choose

           to install individual subcomponents of client management tools. These case we                

           didn’t need the full installation of SQL server but just the client tool  specifically

           the enterprise manager and SQL query analyzer.

 

       D   The CD-ROM install was not doing very well, that we had to download from         

             Microsoft website ISO file to the hard drive from which we did the install

After deciding on the installation choice from the three above then will be presented with the Microsoft SQL server 2000 installation wizard window of 5 choices, click on SQL server 2000 components.

2. A window comes up with three choices:

• Install Database server
• Install analysis service
• Install English query

Choose Install database server.

3. The Microsoft SQL server universal install screen appears. Choose next for the next           

      three screen as well.

4. A licensing agreement screen will appear in the next window. Accept the licensing   agreement by clicking Yes.

5. The following screen will have 3 radio buttons to choose from. Click on the top radio button, your selection being client tool only.

6. Accept defaults through the remaining windows by clicking Next until the installation process is complete.
