Creating a virtual machine in SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 using Xen
1. Enter YaST Administrator Settings
2. Select the System option
3. Select Virtual Machine Management (Xen)
4. It may prompt you to add additional packages at this time, select OK.
5. After additional packages are installed you will find the Manage Virtual Machines GUI
6. Select Add to begin creating your virtual machine
7. Select Run an OS installation program
8. Insert cd/dvd of Guest OS you would like to use
9. Review installation settings
10. Click next to prepare for installation of virtual machine.
11. Select language.
12. Accept license agreement.
13. Select New Installation.
14. Verify that region, time zone, time and date are correct.
15. Review installation settings.
16. I confirm the install. (This can take quite some time depending on available RAM, it took 5 hours with 256MB).
17. The virtual settings now need to be finalized. Continue.
18. Review virtual machine final settings. Be sure to check the memory size, minimum system requirements are 512MB
19. Your virtual machine has been started. You are given the option to create more or finish.
20. Assign a Hostname and Domain Name. (practicepc2, server)
21. Assign password for root.
22. Network Configuration. Left at default. Configure w/ DHCP.
23. Test Internet Connection. I chose to skip this part.
24. Installation Settings. Accept default settings.
25. Authentication Method. I selected Local settings.
26. You are now prompted to create a New Local User.
27. It will take several minutes for the machine to write the system config.
28. Review Release Notes.
29. Hardware Config. I accept default settings.
30. Installation is complete. It will take a few minutes to clone the system.
