Hancock from Williamson County Sheriff's Department - Arson Investigations Friday May 8, 2009 - CJC Meeting at Eastview Campus. Elections for 2009 - 2010 CJC Officers were held and new officers were elected. Guest Speaker : Det. David Fugett of the APD Homicide Unit Friday - March 6, 2009 - CJC Meeting at Eastview Campus. Guest Speaker: Chief Art Acevedo of the Austin Police Department. The Chief discussed his experiences in law enforcement, and answered questions about the Austin Police Department. Additionally, Chief Acevedo added his signature to a children's book that will be dedicated to Any Baby Can. Friday - February 6, 2009 - CJC Meeting at Eastview Campus. Guest Speaker: Earl Pearson, Deputy Director of TABC. Mr. Pearson is the former Chief of the Texas Rangers. Mr. Pearson delivered an interesting talk about his experience in law enforcement. Additionally, Mr. Pearson signed a children's book that will be dedicated to Any Baby Can. Saturday, December 13, 2008 - CJC Members and friends volunteered at Travis County Brown Santa. Volunteers sorted toys and prepared gifts and supplies to give to families in need. The many other volunteers, live music and holiday spirit made it a great event. Volunteers were Marcia Balios, Margaret Chance, Thomas Edwards, David Rodriguez and Susan VanZanten Saturday November 8, 2008 - The Austin Community College and The Austin Park Foundation hosted their 5th Annual Build-A-Park Project. CJC Officer Marcia Balios had the opportunity to volunteer and in her words, "it was an awesome experience." Marcia also stated "picking up trash may not be the most fun thing to do on a Saturday morning, but was the commitment and motivation of at least 150 volunteers that made it worth it." The volunteers picked up trash, cut down trees and dedicated their time to make a difference.
