College Readiness at ACC
For every 100 ninth graders in Texas, only 64 will graduate from high school on time, and only 35
will enter college immediately after high school. Only 22 will enroll in their sophomore year in college*—some may have completed a certificate and gone into the workforce, but many will
have been unsuccessful in college because they were not ready for college-level studies.
The College Readiness Initiative at ACC is part of a state-wide initiative to make sure students are college ready when they graduate from high school. Between 12th grade and college lies a
critical gap in the education pipeline, and ACC is determined to close this gap.
College readiness efforts involve extensive partnerships between area high schools and ACC.
