About the Executive Vice President
spacer Mary HensleyMary Hensley is the Executive Vice President, College Operations, at Austin Community College District where she oversees ACC Campuses, District Police, and ACC Centers. In addition, she oversees the Campus Advisory Committees which partners with its neighbors and local business leaders to connect the college’s vision and mission with the communities we serve.

Dr. Hensley has administrative experience at both Austin Community College and McLennan Community College.  She also has been a teacher, counselor, elementary assistant principal, middle school principal, high school principal, director of secondary education, assistant superintendent, and deputy superintendent in the Ysleta, Socorro, and Round Rock school districts.

Dr. Hensley has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas, a Master’s of Arts degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Doctor of Education degree from Baylor University.

She holds elementary, counselor, supervisor, mid-management, and superintendent certificates. Additionally, she holds certificates in Professional Development and Appraisal System, Texas Teacher Appraisal System and Updates, Advanced Instructional Leadership Training, and Instructional Leadership Training.

Dr. Hensley is active in many professional and civic organizations including the Austin Independent School District Partners-In-Education Executive Board; Bastrop Education Foundation; Capital Area College Tech-Prep Consortium Executive Board; Community Action Network Resource Council; Literacy Coalition of Central Texas; Bastrop Independent School District P-16 Coalition; San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District P-16 Coalition; National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship; National Honorary Life Member of Parents and Teachers Association; Texas Honorary Life Member of Parents and Teachers Association; and Texas Junior College Teachers Association.

Dr. Hensley received the 2006 Career and Technology Association of Texas Appreciation Award. On behalf of the Austin Community College District, Dr. Hensley received the 2006 Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Star Award, the 2007 Community College Future’s Assembly National Bellwether Award, and the Execelencia in Education recognition for the innovative College Connection program.
