Welcome!

Starting in Fall of 2005, Austin Community College (ACC) began offering an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in International Business in addition to the existing Certificate in International Business program.  The focus of the expanded degree program is to provide students with the technical skills for entry-level positions as specialists in exporting and importing for the significant and growing international trade community.

Most students pursue careers in import-export trading, international transportation and logistics, global supply chain management, international marketing, or various international business support services.  The international business courses can be taken in any order and students can enroll in more than one class at a time.

This site provides information on courses I have taught in the past at ACC.   Visit the ACC International Business Institute Web site for a full course listing.

IBUS 1305 Introduction to International Business and Trade: The material covered in this course provides a strong foundation for all the other courses in international business at ACC.  Emphasis is on the impact and dynamics of socio-cultural, demographic, economic, technological, and political-legal factors in the foreign trade environment.  Topics include patterns of world trade, internationalization of the firm, and operating procedures of the multinational enterprise.  This course can be taught as either a distance learning course or in a standard classroom setting.

IBUS 2332 Global Business Simulation:  This is a capstone course and is unique, requiring students to run an "International Business Practice Firm" (IBPF).  The IBPF is a simulated company created by students and which is doing business internationally.  Students enrolled in the course will communicate with other students worldwide as they perform a simulated exchange of goods and services.  This course will provide you the opportunity to implement the material you have learned from other International Business Institute in an "almost" real business setting.

If you have any questions regarding any of these courses, you can contact the International Business Institute Office.  (The staff in this office are extremely helpful and very nice!)
