How do I get department head approval to register
for the sequence classes? |
-
If you previously enrolled in a Basic Peace officer sequence class,
and we have a background check on file for you, you will be
unblocked prior to the first day of registration. You will not need
to call, but feel free to if you have any questions or concerns.
-
If you have not taken a sequence class before, you will need
to provide the criminal justice department with your TCIC/NCIC
background check and a copy of your driver's license.

Can I receive college credit for attending a certified
police / correction academy?

ACC will grant college credit for licensed peace officers and licensed
corrections officers. The requirements for granting credit are:

Student must enroll at ACC and complete one 3 credit hour course.

Peace Officers seeking college credit for completion of a TCLEOSE
Basic Peace Officer Course must furnish a copy of their Law Enforcement
Academy Transcript or Certification of Completion for required training
and a copy of their Texas Peace Officer License.

Corrections Officers must furnish proof of completion of either the
Texas State Correctional Officer Course or the County Jail Officer
Course plus proof that they are currently licensed Correctional Officers.

Students must pay a fee of $10.00 per credit hour for the courses
approved.

What must I do to get enrolled into the Level 1 certification
program?
You enroll into the Texas Peace Officer Sequence / Level One Certification
program the same as you would any of the other college courses.
Check the current course
schedule for class times, location and register for the classes
you choose within the core classes of the Texas Peace Officer Sequence
degree plan.
*Remember, you cannot register for the three sequence classes until
you have taken a minimum of 12 credit hours in the core curriculum.

What is a TCLEOSE Endorsement?
An endorsement is the form the student receives from the ACC Criminal Justice
Department after completion of the Texas Peace Officer Sequence. The endorsement
verifies that the student has successfully completed the academic alternative
basic peace officer course covering the required TCLEOSE objectives. The student
will only receive their endorsement after they have successfully completed the program and have obtained an Associates Degree. TCLEOSE rule 215.13

| When and where are the criminal justice courses
offered?
The CRJ courses are held:

- Eastview Campus - Day/Evening
- Cypress Creek - Day/Evening
- Round Rock Higher Education
- South Austin Campus- Day

Can I take the sequence courses in any order? |

You must take CJLE 2420 and CJLE 2421 before you can take CJLE 2522.
-
Before being cleared for CJLE 2522, YOU must make sure that you have provided the criminal justice department with your TCIC/NCIC
background check and a copy of your driver's license.
- CJLE 2424 is the Capstone course for the certificate program and must be taken during the last semester.
