What do I need to do before I can enroll in last four sequence classes?
Before you can enroll in the sequence classes, you must:
  1. have reviewed the IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN OR CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN THE TEXAS PEACE OFFICER SEQUENCE CERTIFICATION.

  2. have completed a minimum of 12 hours (4 classes) in the Basic Peace Officer core curriculum;

  3. obtained a background check, completed through F.A.S.T., Fingerprint Application Services of Texas. A background check may be accepted from another agency if you have prior approval from the Department Chair. You may download the FAST Pass here.

  4. have met with the department and completed the required forms and have taken and provided the documentation for the required exams.

How do I get department head approval to register for the sequence classes?

Can I receive college credit for attending a certified police / correction academy?

ACC will grant college credit for licensed peace officers and licensed corrections officers. The requirements for granting credit are:

  1. Student must enroll at ACC and complete one 3 credit hour course.

  2. Peace Officers seeking college credit for completion of a TCLEOSE Basic Peace Officer Course must furnish a copy of their Law Enforcement Academy Transcript or Certification of Completion for required training and a copy of their Texas Peace Officer License.

  3. Corrections Officers must furnish proof of completion of either the Texas State Correctional Officer Course or the County Jail Officer Course plus proof that they are currently licensed Correctional Officers.

  4. Students must pay a fee of $10.00 per credit hour for the courses approved.

What must I do to get enrolled into the Level 1 certification program?

  • You enroll into the Texas Peace Officer Sequence / Level One Certification program the same as you would any of the other college courses.
    Check the current course schedule for class times, location and register for the classes you choose within the core classes of the Texas Peace Officer Sequence degree plan.
    *Remember, you cannot register for the three sequence classes until you have taken a minimum of 12 credit hours in the core curriculum.

    Can I take the sequence courses in any order?
    • CJLE 2424 is the Capstone course for the certificate program and must be taken during the last semester.
