ENGL 1302: Analyzing Short Fiction

The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction

Most of our readings will come from this text. All new copies of this text have an access code to Norton Online, a wonderful resource for students including MLA & writing about literature essays.

The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction (Shorter 7th edition, Ed. Bausch & Cassill) is available at the ACC Bookstore and on Amazon.

A Pocket Style Manual

Inevitably, we'll be reviewing grammar and MLA guidelines, so this text is also required. Then we'll all be on the same page, as it were.

A Pocket Style Manual (5th edition, Ed. Hacker) is also available at the ACC Bookstore and on Amazon.

Reliable Internet Access

This class is dependent upon reliable internet access. Have a backup plan (like going to campus or a coffee shop) if your access is unexpectedly down. You will be conducting research, watching videos, and accessing other information via the Internet.

Standard Word Processing Program

That is, Microsoft Word, Open Office (free), or Pages (iWork). All papers must be either saved in a .doc, .docx, or iWork Pages format.
