Course Syllabus

I. Course Objectives:

The Course is designed to provide the student an in-depth understanding of issue identification and the Law of Contracts and with an introduction to the Law of Agency and Business Entities. The student will develop the knowledge and skills indicated by the attached Learning Objectives.

II. Instructional Materials:

A. Required Purchase:

(1) Clarkson, Miller, Jentz & Cross West's Business Law (7th)

III. Examinations:

A. There will be two midterm exams* and a comprehensive final examination which will be graded as follows:

B. Total Course points will be computed as follows:

*One make-up or re-take exam will be allowed per the General Syllabus

IV. Absence Policy:

One absence will be allowed. Any additional absences will normally result in the loss of Class Participation Points and may eventually result in the student being dropped from the course. Do not, however, assume that absences will automatically result in a withdrawal. Excessive absences may simply result in a letter grade "F" at the end of the course.

V. Grading:

The final letter grade in the Course will be based upon the percentage of total available points received, as follows:

A - 90-100%

B - 80-89%

C - 70-79%

D - 60-69%

F - 0-59%

VI. Unprepared Announcements:

Students will be allowed one announcement of "unprepared" or non-response to questions during the course. Additional "unprepared" announcements or non-responses will result in the loss of class participation points. A non-response is a failure to respond to a question, or a response that indicates that the student is poorly prepared for the class.
