Instructional Methodology
We will use the lab time to discuss various aspects of
performance as it pertains to the creative writer. We will practice reading,
posture, voice, diction and other aspects of public reading.
Rationale: This is a
performance-based course primarily designed as an overview of the skills
necessary for public performance. Emphasis is placed on the rehearsal and
performance of your literary work under the directions of faculty. The skills
acquired in this class should alleviate some of the discomfort most feel when
asked to read their work in public. All writers at some point in their careers
are asked to read their work or discuss why they write; this is training that
is career specific.
Objectives/Outcomes
Requirements: An
end of semester performance is required for all grade levels in this course.
This is the goal of this class – the expected outcome is that you will be able
to read your work in a public venue.
