Dorothy Barnett is founding editor of Borderlands: Texas Poetry Review and The Rio Review and has taught creative writing at Austin elementary and high schools, at Austin Community College, and for the Writers’ League of Texas Touring Artist Program. A post-graduate James A. Michener Fellow in Creative Writing with the James A. Michener Center for Writers at The University of Texas at Austin, she has received numerous awards for teaching, scholarship and writing, and her work has appeared in small journals, has won or been recognized in writing contests. She was selected to appear on KLRU’s Poetry Aloud series for PBS and has read at many local, state and national venues. She is a past member of the Board of Directors for Writers’ League of Texas and Borderlands: Texas Poetry Review. Currently the Assistant Dean of Communications and a full-time English and creative writing professor at Austin Community College, she writes and is a free-lance editor.
