A Guide to Course Levels in Creative Writing at ACC
All 2307 classes are beginning level classes.
These classes are for writers who may have
written some on their own, writers
who don’t know where to start; writers who have some experience
but haven’t
written for a while; in general students can expect to be in a class
population of all of these levels. These are also great courses
for “refresher” training.
The content delivery is usually through lecture,
reading, discussion, in- class writing exercises, and workshop during
the semester. The form, theory,
and practice of a particular genre will be covered in the course. These
are
the most basic of the beginning level classes.
All 2308 classes are second semester level
classes.
These workshops are for writers who have
knowledge of the course subject.
Students should have had working practice in the genre and have participated
in at least one writing workshop. Students should be familiar with the
give
and take of critical analysis and the portfolio system. Intermediate
to
advanced students will be comfortable in these classes.
