Web Course:
Parasitology/Mycology
This web-based Parasitology/Mycology course is
self-paced and designed to give students the skills necessary
to perform parasitological examinations in the clinical laboratory.
Beginning with terms and procedures, the course is an excursion
through the world of protozoan, helminth, and arthropod parasites
of humans. While epidemiology, pathogenesis, and life cycles are
studied, emphasis is placed upon morphological features that separate
one organism from others. An overview of Mycology is included
in the final stages of the course.
The course is organized into lectures available
both as MS Word and Adobe “PDF” documents. Laboratory
instruction is accomplished by way of streaming video and “virtual
microscopy.”
Mid-term and final examinations will require
the student to appear in person at the testing center at ACC’s
Riverside Campus.
