Creative writers ignite the imagination of their audience with the expression of ideas, emotions, and stories. They create their art with the written word. From writing mysteries, to structuring a novel, to crafting a poem, the Creative Writing Program at Austin Community College will provide you with what you need to begin your journey as a creative writer.

Skills You Gain

Students learn writing skills such as grammar and syntax, story structure, idea generation, writing for tone and audience, copy editing, and the effective use of literary devices such as simile, metaphor, alliteration, and dramatic irony.
