Be the catalyst for positive change in someone’s health.
By creating efficient and safe fitness programs designed specific to an individual, personal fitness trainers empower people to reach their fitness, health and wellness goals. Austin Community College’s Personal Fitness Trainer Program provides the science knowledge and practical skills required to become an effective personal fitness trainer.
In addition to acquiring the knowledge to design safe, effective fitness programs for the apparently healthy adult, you also develop skills to enhance client success such as goal setting, fitness assessments, and interpersonal communication. Internships are required with partnering entities in the Personal Fitness Trainer certificate and AAS Degree. Graduates are trained to work with gyms, corporations, or individuals. You can also transfer a portion of the two year Associate of Applied Science to a four-year institution in the areas of Exercise Science, Health and Wellness Promotion and Kinesiology. Students are also prepared for national exams offered by the American Council on Exercise, National Strength and Conditioning Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.
