Pharmacy Technician

The care that a pharmacy technicians take in interpreting and filling prescriptions makes a profound difference in nearly all of our lives at some point. Austin Community College’s Pharmacy Technician Program provides you with expert classroom instruction, experiential learning opportunities in retail and hospital settings, and hours of practical experience in a state-of-the-art pharmacy lab. Completion of this program prepares you to take the national Pharmacy Technician Certification exam.

Career Information

The field of pharmacy technology provides a growing number of opportunities in a wide range of medical settings. As a pharmacy technician, you’ll be responsible for preparing prescription medications and providing customer service in addition to tasks such as maintaining patient profiles and facilitating insurance claims.

Employment Opportunities

Pharmacy technician in settings such as hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, long term care facilities, mail-order prescription services, and pharmaceutical companies.
