Sonography

Choose a career path that resonates

Sonographic technology allows us to visualize life in brand new ways. The imagery sonographers create, generated with the use of sound waves, give us our earliest baby pictures, but also give us access to vital medical information for a wide range of patients. Austin Community College’s Sonography Program provides extensive classroom instruction, hands-on practice in an ultrasound scanning lab, and work-based experience through clinical rotations in area healthcare facilities. Advanced training is also offered for current sonography professionals.

Career Information

As a sonographer, you’ll utilize some of the latest medical imaging technology to give patients a special glimpse at their newest family members, as well as crucial insights into a wide range of medical conditions. Advances in technology make this a fast-growing and competitively paid job field.

Employment Opportunities

Sonographer in settings such as hospitals, physicians’ offices, imaging clinics, and medical and diagnostic laboratories.
