Faculty participation is encouraged as we endeavor to create a meaningful occasion for our graduates and their guests.
Bus Transportation to the commencment ceremony
Join your colleagues and catch the shuttle bus service that will be provided from both the Highland Business Center and the South Austin Campus. First buses will depart starting at 4:00 p.m. from both locations with the second bus leaving at 4:30 p.m. The Highland Business Center buses will also make a second round of pick-ups starting at 5:00 p.m.
After the ceremony, buses will be ready to depart to return passengers back to SAC and HBC. There will be a staggered departure so those who would like to mingle can stay, and those who are ready can return to their respective campuses. Buses will run for one hour after the graduation ceremony ends.
Due to the ongoing construction of the new Dell Medical Center at the UT Austin campus, Red River Street is currently closed to through traffic.
Parking in the vicinity can be found in garages and on the surrounding streets, at varying costs. UT staff recommends the Trinity Parking garage for closest walking access to the Erwin Center during Red River Street construction.
For mobility-impaired passengers, vehicle drivers may drop off or pick up passengers at the small surface lot #118, located on the north side of the Erwin Center. Access to this lot is on the southbound I-35 frontage road, just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Full-time faculty and administration lead the procession and sit near the graduates on the arena floor during commencement. Academic regalia is worn by all who participate in the ceremony. If you are full-time faculty or administration and plan to participate, please arrive at 5:00 p.m.
ACC hosts a reception immediately after the ceremony. Signs will direct you to the reception location in the West Concourse.
