A Biotechnology Company: In Depth
For this project, you will turn in 3 papers that demonstrate your understanding of how a biotechnology company (of your choice) got started and what it does. Your instructor may place you in small groups so that you can divide up the tasks, or you may be asked to complete the project individually.
Part 1: The Leadership
Learn about the CEO and/or the founders of the company. Find out as much as you can about the CEO and/or the people who started the company. You can concentrate on one person or more than one. From the point of view of a news journalist, describe the person's background, experience, and reasons for starting the company.Part 2: Company History, Funding, and Direction
Learn how the company was started, how it got funded, and its history. From the point of view of an investor, describe the history, funding and financial state, and the future plans/direction for the company.Part 3: Company Specialization
Learn about the company's major area of research and what products or services it specializes in. Where does the company conduct research and who is responsible for this? What is the specialization? What product or service is the company offering and who is the target audience? Describe the company's specialization from the point of view of an employee.
