Dr. Marla Dean (Adjunct Professor of Drama) has spent most of her adult life developing new plays for the stage and working with writers. She is an award winning playwright, and director of over fifty plays and musicals for the stage. After twenty years of practice in the theatre, Marla returned to school to obtain her Master of Arts and Doctoral degrees. She is a member of Not Dead Yet Playwrights, the Dramatist Guild, and Director of New Play Development for Remembrance through the Performing Arts. Her scholarship is focused upon ancient theatre and indigenous performance. She is the author of four articles published in journals and collections within her field over the last five years. Marla received her B.A. in Theatre from the University of Texas at Austin, M.A in Theatre History and Criticism at the same University, and PH.D. in Theatre History, Theory and Dramatic Literature from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. Her book, Recovering Ancient Ritual and the Theatre of the Apaches, is scheduled to be published this spring.
