Welcome to my Austin Community College website!
In addition
to teaching traditional on campus courses, I teach
hybrid classes,
which are mostly online but have occasional class meetings for
delivering presentations. For many students, an online course is
the best option for fitting in that last requirement, juggling
school and work and family, or for those with speaking anxiety.
If you would like more information on ACC's Distance Learning
programs, visit the
Distance Learning Office.
The two
courses I teach online are
SPCH 1311 -
Introduction to Speech Communication and
SPCH 1315 -
Fundamentals of Public Speaking. In the class
meetings, students will give individual speeches and group
presentations, participate in discussion, complete projects, and
more. Reliable, consistent internet access is crucial for
success in this class, as there are many assignments completed
through Blackboard. While online education is largely independent work, you
are not alone in this class and will have time to connect with
fellow students, both in person and online.
This is NOT a self-directed course that you complete at your own
schedule. Deadlines must be met or else failure is likely.
Failure to attend the orientation session will result in being
dropped from the course. Failure to complete a required speech
will result in failing the class.
Feel free to
contact me for more information about
these courses. I have also included links
to speech resources I enjoy as well as personal favorite sites.
Here's to better communication!
