About ECS
Early College Start students can complete up to 42 college credit hours before they graduate from high school.
In some cases, students can earn college and high school credit simultaneously (dual credit courses).
Students have the opportunity to take courses that may not be offered at the local high school.
Students have an opportunity to experience post-secondary education while in high school.
Students who have difficulty in the traditional high school setting often flourish in a different educational setting.
About Costs
Tuition and fees are waived for Early College Start students who reside in the ACC tax district.
Books, supplies, and parking fees are the responsibility of the student.
Early College Start students residing outside the ACC tax district are charged $40 per course, if course is not on thier high school campus.
About Expectations
College courses often require two to three hours of study time each week for each hour of class time.
Due to FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), colleges cannot release a student’s academic information to anyone, even parents, without the student’s written consent.
College classes may conflict with high school classes or extracurricular activities.
College course content is not modified to accommodate high school students.
