Recent Event Summaries

ACC's annual Spring Development Day featured a session, titled "Creating Access to Success: Tools to Cultivate Vibrate, Diverse, and Effective Learning Environments in Community College Classrooms," presented by Martha Ramos Duffer, Ph.D., of Quantum Possibilities. Dr. Ramos Duffer was interviewed and provided some insight on the importance of cultivating multicultural competence.

The College Access Programs office worked with The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond (PISAB) to facilitate two "Undoing Racism" workshops January 8-9 and Januray 22-23 with various stakeholders invited to attend. The “Undoing Racism” Community Organizing Workshop is the PISAB’s signature event. Each workshop held at ACC accommodated more than 40 attendeees engaging in dialogue, reflection, role-playing, strategic planning, and presentations to challenge each participant to analyze the structures of power and privilege that hinder social equity aimed at preparing them to be effective organizers for justice. Debriefings for these workshops were conducted subsequently.
