ACC Fire Academy Relocation

The information below is regarding the relocation and construction efforts for the ACC Fire Academy:

Overview:
The ACC Fire Academy, which has operated in Taylor, Texas for many years, is being relocated. ACC has entered into a Facilities Use Agreement with the City of Austin to allow ACC to share space at the City of Austin Fire Academy located at 4800 Shaw Lane in SE Austin. The terms of the Agreement require ACC to make certain improvements to the site.

09/22/09 Update:
The project is 98% complete. The students and faculty are occupying the facilty.  The remaining work is to finish the re-vegetation and punch list items.

07/08/09 Update:

Construction started on the Fire Training Academy relocation project in mid-March. All buildings for the relocated academy are reclaimed buildings from the Cypress Creek Campus. The buildings are sited, graded, and 75 percent complete. Construction has also begun on a new metal building that will house and protect the fire apparatus and equipment, such as extension ladders, from inclement weather. Power will not be provided to this building. We will achieve daytime lighting by the use of Solatubes. Site work is the immediate focus. The parking lots and sidewalks are being graded. The detention and water quality ponds are nearing completion. We are on schedule to be complete by the end of July.
