Recycling
spacer RECYCLING PROCEDURES:
  • Recycling bins are located throughout the campus and contain some version of the universal recycle logo to distinguish them from trash cans:

  • Custodial staff collects the contents and deposits to larger exterior facility containers. The recyclable materials are then collected by a contracted company and transported to a recycling center.

  • The Facilites & Operations department is responsible for oversight and coordination of the recycling program. Please contact via e-mail dcaraway@austincc.edu , should you have any questions.

RECYCLABLE ITEMS:
  • Paper: newspapers, magazines, catalogs, junk mail & office paper, phone books.

  • Thin "cardboard" box (technically known as pasteboard, paperboard or boxboard) which includes cereal boxes, soda cartons, shoe boxes, the cardboard backing on pads of paper

  • Cans: aluminum, steel, and tin

  • Plastic (#1 through #7): includes bottles, bottle caps, tubs, utensils, containers

  • Corrugated cardboard: corrugated cardboard boxes can be recycled by writing "RECYCLE" on them and placing next to a recycling bin. Please remove styrofoam, plastic bags, and other such packing materials as these items are not currently recyclable.

Drain and rinse cans and plastic as needed to remove food and drink residue.

Printer Cartridges:
All empty cartridges should be returned to the Service Center Warehouse.   You can use the box that the new cartridge came in for returning the empty cartridge.     Seal the box and label it “Used Cartridge ‐ Recycle”.
Take the box to your campus mail center.
Do not put printer cartridges in the recycle bin.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT TRASH IN A RECYCLING BIN!
