Purpose:
To fund computer training for veterans and their spouses, through courses at ACC.
Criteria:
- An applicant for the scholarship must be an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces (United States Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy or Coast Guard) or spouse of an honorably discharged veteran. Spouse of a deceased veteran remains eligible unless and until he/she remarries a non-veteran.
- An applicant must be eligible for enrollment as a regular student at ACC.
- When applying for the scholarship, a student must submit copies of the following documents prior to registration for the class:
Veteran's military discharge form (DD214 or WD-AGO 53-55)
Social Security Card
Proof of marriage to veteran (for spouses only)
- The scholarship will pay tuition and fees for one of the following courses:
* COSC 1300 Introduction to Computing
* COSC 1301 Personal Computing
* COSC 1315 Fundamentals of Programming
- Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until income from the endowment funds has been exhausted. Priority for selection of students goes to Purple Heart recipients and their spouses.
To apply, complete the ACC Military of the Purple Heart Scholarship Application and return it to any ACC Financial Aid or Veteran's Affairs Office.
Terms of Scholarship:
- The number of awards and the dollar amount will be based on the funds available.
- Upon satisfactory completion of the COSC course with a GPA of 2.0 or higher, a student may reapply for funding for the next higher course if funding is available.
