Instructions for Exam 1

Introduction to Macroeconomics

Andron

Date: Exam will be during our last class of Week 5 (week of 2-11-02 through 2-15-02).

The exam is closed book and closed notes. (You must operate from memory.) Test covers readings through Week 4 of the syllabus plus all lectures up to the exam. You will have 50 minutes for the exam.

Exam will consist of:

A) About 25 multiple choice or true-false questions, focused mainly on information from the text, Chs 1-4, or lectures, and counted 80% of the test points. (Questions may cover any lecture or homework prior to the exam date.)
B) One written question from the questions handed out ahead of time in class, also available on my website by going to: http://www2.austin.cc.tx.us/gandron/

The question will be selected at random on the day of the exam and will be worth 20% of the test points. The question will be graded for mastery. Some penalty is unavoidable if your writing cannot be read, but an attempt will be made not to penalize poor spelling or handwriting.

Materials you must bring to the exam:

1) A Scantron card and a #2 pencil. Cards are available for 15 cents each in the ACC bookstore. Part A) will be completed on the Scantron card.

2) A blue-book. Get your blue-book at the bookstore also. Part B) will be written in a blue-book. Your blue-book must be empty and blank when you arrive in class.

If you don't bring these materials, you will contribute to the class entertainment fund as follows:
--I will have a limited supply of Scantron cards, which I will sell for $1 each.
--I will have a limited supply of #2 pencils, which I will sell for $1 each.
--I will have a limited supply of blue-books, which I will sell for $1 each.

Proceeds will be used to do something fun (or at least nourishing) at the end of the semester.
