Additional GECCC meetings in 2010 thru 2011 were subsumed in the General Education Task Force meetings. Members of the GECCC also served on the General Education Task Force.

    General Education / Core Curriculum Committee Function

  1. Identify strategies for assessing the effectiveness of the General Education Core
    and the Core Curriculum.
  2. Design and implement an assessment program for the General Education Core
    and the Core Curriculum.
  3. Assess the effectiveness of the General Education core and the Core Curriculum
    in achieving student learning outcomes.
  4. Review general education and core curriculum courses to ensure compliance
    with effectiveness measures.
  5. Serve as a resource to Department Chairs in conducting on-going assessments
    of courses and programs.
  6. Regularly analyze assessment results and report to the college community.
  7. Make recommendations regarding how assessment results can be used to
    improve the curriculum.
  8. Provide annual reports to the Curriculum and Programs Committee and make recommendations on the effectiveness of courses in meeting general learning
    outcomes, and student transfer needs.

Recommendations: Changes to Core Curriculum are forwarded to the Curriculum and Programs Committee.

    General Education Task Force Function

  1. Review and provide feedback regarding ACC’s progress on meeting General Education/Core Curriculum standards as defined by the Coordinating Board and
    the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
  2. Develop general education competencies with broad-based support.
  3. Develop and implement methods for assessing general education competencies
    within and across departments.
  4. Support and promote cross-curricular relationships involving general education competencies
  5. Identify ways in which assessment of General Education competencies ties into
    the larger missions and objectives of the college.
  6. Identify methods for rewarding best assessment practices at ACC.

    Recommendations: Forwarded to the Achieving Excellence Committee and
    the General Education/Core Curriculum Committee

    Student Learning Outcomes Subcommittee Function

  1. Review and give feedback for improving student learning outcomes for courses
    and programs at ACC.
  2. Develop rubrics for reviewing academic department assessment plans.
  3. Review academic department assessment plans and give feedback about these
    plans to the departments.
  4. Identify methods for improving the assessment of program level student learning outcomes processes.
  5. Identify methods for rewarding best assessment practices at ACC.

Recommendations: Forwarded to the Institutional Effectiveness Committee
and the General Education/Core Curriculum Committee

Discipline Assessment Cycle (DAC) Subcommittee
 
 
 

    Discipline Assessment Cycle Subcommittee Function

  1. Review and provide feedback to disciplines and departments for improving the assessment of General Education competencies and the student learning
    outcomes for their programs; and
  2. Review and provide feedback to disciplines and departments regarding their
    performance snapshot analyses; and
  3. Review and provide feedback to disciplines and departments regarding the
    improvement plans resulting from analyses of assessment data; and
  4. Review and provide feedback to appropriate entities for improving the
    documentation of student learning outcomes for courses and programs; and
  5. Develop rubrics for reviewing discipline and program assessment plans; and
  6. Provide feedback and recommendations to the Institutional Effectiveness
    Committee and the General Education/Core Curriculum Committee regarding
    assessment data, assessment processes, and their documentation.

    and the General Education/Core Curriculum Committee
