NEW GIS CERTIFICATES AND GIS DEGREE
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has given ACC approval to begin offering two new GIS certificates and a new Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in GIS in Fall 2009.

What is GIS?
GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a computer-based tool for mapping and analyzing features and events that occur in the real world. "GIS technology integrates common database operations such as query and statistical analysis with the unique visualization and geographic analysis benefits offered by maps." (ESRI, 2000)

What certificates and degrees in GIS does ACC offer?
ACC offers an Associate of Arts (AA), an Associate of Applied Science (AAS), a Level I certificate and a level II certificate in GIS. To learn more about these options, click here.
