Glen D. Hunt

Associate Professor of Government
Austin Community College

The government courses taught at ACC are designed to meet the statutory requirements of all students earning a degree at a post-secondary institution in Texas. They focus on providing the student with a framework for understanding both national and state government and the interplay between government and politics. Finally, they provide the student with a set of citizenship skills focused on participating as a citizen in our democracy.

This website has been designed to offer you resources in your study of government and to provide you with easy access to useful ACC websites. Any suggestions and comments are welcome.

The quotes below are provided to introduce you to some beginning thoughts about life and government as you begin your study.

"Freedom isn't free" - seen on a car in Austin

"It may be romantic, it may be altruistic, but knowledge helps a hell of a lot. In the absence of knowledge, politics is a free-for-all, and the strong win, even when they probably shouldn't" - Paul O'Neill

"If in the last few years you haven't discarded a major opinion or acquired a new one, check your pulse. You may be dead." - Gelett Burgess

"Let others praise ancient times; I am glad I was born in these." - Ovid (43 B.C. - 17 A.D.)
