Establishing An ACC Internet Presence
We encourage all ACC government faculty members to establish an internet presence including an ACC email address and an ACC web page with basic contact and course information.*
This document is a basic guide to establishing an ACC internet presence.
Establishing your ACC email address
Contact ACC's Information Technology (IT) Help Desk at 512-223-4357. The Help Desk will assign an ACC email address (youremailID@austincc.edu) and password.
Accessing (using) your ACC email address
The Help Desk has published a guide to Accessing Your ACC Email. This guide includes instructions for using your ACC email via webmail and most common email clients.

WEB PAGE
Request an ACC web page
Request an ACC web page via the Individual Web Account Request form.
The Help Desk will assign a User ID (which may or may not be your email ID) and a password.
Create your web page
Use an html editor (DreamWeaver, Frontpage, GoLive, etc.) to create your own web page or to insert your information into the Government Department's Web Page Template.
NOTE: Send an email to Kris Seago to get a copy of the Government Department's Web Page template.
Many word processing programs (including recent version of MS Word) will generate and edit html documents. Shareware or Freeware html editors for Windows and Macintosh OS computers are available at Version Tracker.
Take care to include basic contact and course information.*
Upload (publish) your web page
Upload (publish) your web page using your html editor or File Transfer Protocol (ftp) software. The Help Desk has published guides for Dreamweaver and Frontpage as well as Windows and Macintosh ftp software at their Documents page.
Maintain your web page
Update your web page as necessary to reflect changes in office hours, courses taught, syllabi, and so forth.
TRAINING
ACC's Professional Development Department offers a number of html courses.
* Basic contact information includes: Professor name, Title, Office #/location, Office Days/Hours, Phone number, Fax number (if available), email address, and USPS mail address. Basic course information includes: Courses teaching in current semester (Name/Number/Section), Links to syllabi for courses taught in current semester Online (html) versions of syllabi for courses taught in current semester or downloadable (pdf) versions of syllabi for courses taught in current semester.
