ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY

Real Women. Real Stories.

Cassandra is Faculty/Program Coordinator of the Environmental Systems Technology Program, at Richland College in Dallas, Texas. She studied "Industrial" and "Risk Control/ Safety" Engineering (1995/2000). Her program in Environmental Systems Technology, provides an opportunity for students to acquire knowledge and skills in monitoring environmental systems, investigating sources of contamination, and performing corrective actions. In addition to learning environmental principles, theories, and regulations, students gain practical experience collecting and analyzing samples, testing and operating equipment, as well as developing waste minimization and contingency plans. The program prepares students for careers in pollution control, and includes a specialized track in Energy Management, for careers related to pollution prevention through emissions and waste reduction, evaluating energy use patterns and systems. To become a college educator, she worked first as an Industrial Engineer (Overnite Transportation, Continental Airlines, FedEx Express), then at Waste Management, Inc. (Fleet Optimization Manager), and finally as an Environmental, Safety & Health Engineer in glass manufacturing (Guardian Industries). All of these drew on her B.S./M.S. Degree in Engineering. Navarro College - Adjunct Professor (Oil and Gas, Math, Computer Science).

"Learning is a life long journey, not a destination. It is my desire to help people on their journey to the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom."
