Exams are to be taken at one of ACC's Testing Center locations. Please view this site for Testing Center guidelines, locations and hours of operation.
Student Freedom of Expression. “Each student is strongly encouraged to participate in this course. In any course that includes discussion and critical thinking, there are bound to be many differing viewpoints. These differences enhance the learning experience and create an atmosphere where students and instructors alike will be encouraged to think and learn. On sensitive and volatile topics, students may sometimes disagree not only with each other but also with the instructor. It is expected that faculty and students will respect the views of others when expressed in discussions”.
Lack of Progress/Withdrawal. It is the student’s responsibility to withdraw if it is determined they are unable to complete the course with a grade they desire. Students who do not complete at least 50% of the course work by the withdrawal deadline may be withdrawn by the instructor.
Scholastic Dishonesty. “Acts prohibited by the College for which discipline may be administered include scholastic dishonesty, including but not limited to cheating ob an exam or quiz, plagiarizing, and unauthorized collaboration with another in preparing outside work. Academic work submitted by students shall be the result of their thought, research or self-expression. Academic work is defined as, but not limited to test, quizzes, whether taken electronically or on paper; projects, either individual or group; classroom presentations, and homework. Students found guilty of scholastic dishonesty will be assessed an appropriate penalty up to and including expulsion.
Students with Disability. “Each ACC campus offers support services for students with documented physical or psychological disabilities. Students with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations through the Office for Students with Disabilities on the campus where they expect to take the majority of their classes. Students are encouraged to do this three weeks before the start of the semester.”
Incomplete Grade Policy. An incomplete (I) grade will be granted rarely. A student must have completed all exams and assignments to date, be passing, and have circumstances that prevent course completion that occur after the deadline to withdraw with a grade of “W”. All work to complete the course must be completed before the end of the following semester for the granting of an appropriate grade. Failure to do so will result in a failing grade for the course.
Rule of Three or Third Attempt. "Per state law, effective spring 2006 any student taking a class for the third time or more may be charged an additional $60 per credit hour unless exempted. Click here for additional information.
Rule of Six…….Withdrawing from a course. Students may withdraw from a course at any time before the withdrawal deadlines published in the academic calendar. Withdrawing from a course or notifying the instructor do not constitute authorized withdrawal. Students who fail to officially withdraw from a course are at risk of receiving an F on their transcript. Per state law, students enrolling for the first time in fall 2007 or later at any Texas college or university may not withdraw (receive a W) from more than six courses during their undergraduate college career. Some exceptions for good cause could allow a student to withdraw from a course without having it count toward this limit. Students are encouraged to carefully select courses.
