HART has a wide variety of equipment for students to work on, including the

  • 90+ updraft systems
  • horizontal gas and electric system in conventional split and heat pump systems
  • State of the art 19+ SEER Trane systems
  • new Carrier Infinity System
  • several Puron R410A Bryan and Carrier systems.

A "Ductless" water cooled system is being developed to be included in the curriculum.

There are a number of window units with programmed faults which students diagnose and repair
Condensers, usually found outside, contain compressors and work in concert with the air units and evaporators inside the building (below).

The condensers connect through a wall to the air handlers...

...which house the blower motor, the furnace assembly and the evaporator

The commercial unit's evaporator is in the freezer. The copper condensate line at the bottom is wrapped with a heating element to prevent the water from freezing before it leaves the freezer. This unit operates at -35 degrees F.

Refrigerant is recovered with the "stinger" then a vacuum pump removes the noncondensibles such as air and moisture.
