EMT-Basic Prerequisites
Since students will be working in a clinical setting with real patients, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Students must be 18 years old prior to the first day of class - no exceptions
- Students must show proof of immunizations
- Students must be recently certified in CPR through an American Heart Association class at a healthcare provider level
- Students must pass a criminal background check
- Students must complete online information session.
EMT-Intermediate and Paramedic Prerequisites
The only prerequisite for the EMS program at this time is a Texas EMT-Basic certification or proof of enrollment in a current EMT-Basic class or eligible to take the National Registry Exam. However, since students will be working in a clinical setting with real patients, applicants must also meet the following criteria:
- Must hold current Texas EMT-Basic certification
- Or proof of current enrollment in an EMT-Basic class
- Or eligible for National Registry Exam
- Students must be 18 years old prior to the first day of class - no exceptions
- Students must show proof of immunizations
- Students must be recently certified in CPR through an American Heart Association class at a healthcare provider level
- Students must pass a criminal background check
